October 2014, Brighton, Sussex:
£50k prize fund from Young Start-up Talent for entrepreneurial students in Brighton and Hove
by Sussex Marketing Agency Media Word Waves
Young Start-up Talent’s search for Brighton & Hove's entrepreneurial 16-25 year olds is well underway this year. Universities, colleges and schools within the area are dedicated to allowing their students to develop and explore the various opportunities within the community where they can expand and explore their future career paths. This week Young Start-up Talent worked with City College students to inspire, encourage and instil a ‘can do’ attitude towards business. The workshop was a chance for students to gain an insight into the world of business whilst for others it was an opportunity to discuss their ideas and pitch them to their peers. The workshop was taken by Lorraine Nugent – a Founding Partner of the initiative and who was recently announced as Influential Woman of the Year at the Natwest Venus awards.
Those students who walked away from the workshop were excited to see the initiative back in the area for a third year with the opportunity for their idea to gain the £50,000 prize fund worth of products and services to take their business to the next level.
City College students have shown a huge passion for making that extra step to make their dreams a reality and we look forward to working with everyone that enters the process in Brighton & Hove for 2014/15.
Earlier this year Natalie Evans of 42Juice was announced the winner of the prize fund and has made leaps and bounds since she entered the process. Natalie has now opened her first shop in the heart of Brighton in Market Street with orders increasing each week. Natalie is a prime example of what young entrepreneurs can achieve.
Latest TV were also in attendance as part of a six part ‘fly on the wall’ type documentary which is following the Young Start-up Talent process, team and entrepreneurs who enter the initiative. Some of the aspiring entrepreneurs spoke to camera during the workshop, giving an insight into the elevator pitch that each individual or team that enters will have to carry out.
The local business community who make up the judges and sponsors of Young Start-up Talent are excited to welcome the candidates into the process for another year following its success. The Latest TV crew will be following every step of the process from now on and look forward to working with the entrepreneurs as they make their way into the world of business.
