A globetrotting businesswoman who shifted focus to run her own sales consultancy from a converted cowshed on a Kent farm is vying for a major accolade.
Rachel Lowe, Managing Director of Kent-based Catapult Sales Consultancy, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Kent Women in Business Awards in the category of Business Woman of the Year with the winner to be announced on 26th March at the Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone.
For 20 years Rachel was a game-changing, award-winning sales woman who worked with large corporates to start-ups. She consistently over achieved on sales targets by thinking creatively to break into new sectors, develop new revenue streams and achieve fast market penetration.
In 2009, after spending many years working and living in London and travelling internationally, Rachel established Catapult Sales Consultancy to meet the need among start-ups and small and medium businesses for knowledgeable and experienced, but also affordable, sales specialists. In 2013 she became a Growth Coach so that she could offer government subsidised services through the GrowthAccelerator service.
In 2012 Rachel returned to her Kent roots. She was excited about moving back to Kent where she believed she could make a direct impact by working closely with owners of smaller firms in the region. "Moving back to Kent was the best move I could have made. I’m passionate about working with local companies, I am loving my work and am thrilled to have been nominated as a KWIB finalist," she says.
“I spent much of my career working in banking technology within male-dominated businesses," she explains. "It’s fabulous to now work with more female clients. Many women lack confidence and feel they don’t have the ability to sell but actually selling is well suited to women as they tend to be great listeners with natural empathy. I work with them to build on this."
Rachel is particularly thrilled to be shortlisted alongside two of her clients: Hannah Gee of Love Inc. Ltd an interior and home accessories retailer based in Tunbridge Wells who is a finalist in the Retailer of the Year category and Denise Kesson, Co-founder of national physiotherapy brand YourPhysioPlan.com based in Sandwich, also a finalist in the Kent Businesswoman of the Year category.
Hannah Gee, of Love Inc Ltd says “I was referred to Rachel and Catapult Sales Consultancy by the GrowthAccelerator scheme.”
"It’s been amazing – I feel more in control of the business instead of the business controlling me. Rachel analysed the business, gave us more focus and ways to drive it forward. She is always honest about what will and won't work and we have found her input invaluable and a perfect fit to work with us on growing the company."
Denise Kesson of YourPhysioPlan.com has been working with Rachel over the last 12 months and commented,
“Rachel came with a fresh pair of eyes and helped us to cultivate a clear strategy to progress the business. She helped us create a structure and business plan which has enabled us to secure investment and the funds to grow.
Rachel has huge amounts of energy and challenged us throughout the process but also added a fun element. We are excited about working with Rachel as our sales and marketing partner to advance the business further.”
